Future Computer Processors

Future Computer Processors Description
A revolutionary research attempt could most probably shrink, to a size that of a sugar cube, the processor of the world’s finest supercomputer, according to IBM’s group of scientists.
The design is ground-breaking where processors are stacked and positioned on top of each other, while being cooled by water which flows between each one.
The goal however is not just to shrink the design but to lessen the energy it consumes.
About 2% of the total energy of the world is being used by computers and buildings.
Future costs of computers are predicted to center around green compliance instead of speed, said Dr. Bruno Michel of IBM Zurich.
Dr. Michel’s team has successfully put together a prototype that will demonstrate the principle of water-cooling. Also known as Aquasar, which resides in a rack, the size bigger than that of a refrigerator.
IBM predicts that Aquasar would most likely perform 50% better in terms of energy efficiency compared to the current best supercomputers.
